The feedback from our event was amazing, but if the smiles aren’t enough to go by – here are a few words our riders shared:
“If you want to know what it’s like to be a pro – you can’t get a better experience than the Beat Cancer Tour”
“I had knee surgery so wasn’t race fit to join my Lotto Belisol team for the 2014 Santos Tour Down Under. However I still had the opportunity to ride a number of stages with the Beat Cancer Tour team. This event provided the riders with an experience very close to what I experience at the TDU with the Lotto Belisol team. So if you want to know what it’s like to be a pro – you can’t get a better experience than the Beat Cancer Tour. Plus it’s for a wonderful charity which is very close to my heart.”
Greg Henderson – Lotto Belisol Team member and Beat Cancer Tour Team Guest Rider
“This is simply the ultimate cycling experience!”
“The Beat Cancer Tour is an incredible experience – truly money can’t buy. You get behind the scenes access to the Santos Tour Down Under including riding parts of the Tour normally inaccessible to anyone but the pros. Add your accommodation at the Hilton, mechanics and Soigneurs and you really get to experience what it is like to live like a pro rider for a week.
You also get to make a real difference in the fight to beat cancer and that matters! This is simply the ultimate cycling experience!”
Pat Jonker – Winner of the 2004 Santos Tour Down Under and dual Australian Olympian.
“One of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life”
“Words cannot truly reflect the feeling I had after completing the inaugural Beat Cancer Tour, but it quite simply has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. Our visit to Cancer Council reminded us all of the amazing work they do and the reason why I became involved. The riding was gruelling (more than 1,000kms and 11,00 metres of climbing in the week). The friendships and bonds made with other riders, the support crew and Cancer Council staff made this a very special event. Surrounding ourselves with some of the world’s elite road racers in the Hilton, at the TDU Village and on the course each day was the icing on the cake! Can’t wait to ride with you again.”

“The Beat Cancer Tour is the only way to live out this dream.”
Every amateur cyclist no doubt dreams of feeling what it is like to ride a professional bike race. The Beat Cancer Tour is the only way to live out this dream. Arrive at the team hotel and nervously look around at all the superstars of the sport, Gerrans, Evans, Voigt and Liggett to name a few. Cross the road to the mechanics village, drop off your bike to be serviced and prepped for the tour by your Beat Cancer Tour team mechanic. Receive your team kit and be presented on stage at the official team presentation representing the Cancer Council in the Tour Down Under, PRICELESS. This is only Day 1!
Raising money for the Cancer Council is the ultimate goal but what a bonus to have an opportunity to rub shoulders with the pro’s.”

“I got a little taste of what it takes. It’s incredible what the pros do all year.”
“Most importantly it raises awareness and funds for cancer research. As amazing as the Beat Cancer Tour ride is, the prep and training in the months leading to the event was a key part of the experience. Discovering how my legs and head responded to the longer distances really put a focus on my training and recovery. After riding the Tour Down Under stages I got a little taste of what it takes. It’s incredible what the pros do all year.”
